With the national success of this target the government introduced the new PE and Sport Strategy for Young People (PESSYP) in January 2008, which expresses the Government's commitment to improve the quantity and quality of PE and sport undertaken by young people aged 5 to 19 years in England. PESSYP aims to offer children and young people in England at least five hours of high quality PE and sport every week (for those aged 5-16 years).
The hard work and commitment of all the School Sport Coordinators ( SSCo's), Further Education Sport Coordinator (FESCO), Primary Link Teachers (PLT's) ensures that each of the 10 key strands of the strategy is met and the provision for the young people improves year on year raising the profile of sporting provision.
