




Knights Academy Coaching and Education (KACE) Partnership
KACE Partnership was established this year (2009) as a direct result of the Haberdashers' Federation School Sports Partnership recognition that there was a need to ensure School Sports Coaching (SSC); Recruiting into Sport; Step into Sport and the larger Leadership Academy Programme were implemented promptly. It was this recognition, which was the basis of the employment of James Gottshalk HAKA Coach Education (CEM) Manager. In his role as CEM he has made it both a personal and professional target to increase the level of SSC in both frequency and quality throughout our partnership schools (39 Schools in total).
With this promise in mind the CEM will championing The KACE Leadership Academy, in a 'nutshell' this rather revolutionary programme has be redesigned by CEM to encompass both:
Recruit into Coaching (RiC): A government funded initiative to ensure that future coaches get the right start in their profession and add to the 130,000 plus qualified sports Coaches affiliated to National Governing Bodies (i.e. Football Association or British Gymnastic Association). This will bring to life and ultimately solidify young peoples' sport legacy post London 2012.
Step into Sport (SiS): Sports relies on a vast verity of personnel, 1.5 Million Volunteer Officials, Coaches, administrators and managers and the Youth Sports Trust (YST) plays a key role in supporting and developing these talked of personnel.
Through The KACE Leadership Academy the CEM will provide students throughout HASSP schools with the opportunity to develop through, Voluntary opportunities as coaches and/or officials. This will include supporting trainees "From education to vocation..." through direct links between the Leadership academy and the student body (HAKA 6th Form and Young Apprentice students...etc).
The KACE Partnership will provide support with the help of YST funding for students, which will include:
*Free access to Sports Leaders UK Day Certificate in Sport Leadership.
*Free access to a lead into coaching module designed by youth sport trust and sport coach UK which helps the trainee move from leadership into coaching.
*Bursary funding to assist with the cost of National Governing Body Coach Education Awards.
*Support form Knights CEM with advice guidance on courses and in finding opportunities to shadow Senior KACE Partnership Coaches
*Free invite to local briefing session where trainees will meet other trainees and receive further details of the Leadership Academy and related to initiatives; learning Materials and bursaries.
